Colt Challenge & Sale

The Montana Center for Horsemanship, Montana Western, and the community of Dillon are excited to present the Annual Colt Challenge and Sale. The sale is a fundraiser for the Natural Horsemanship Program at Montana Western, and promotes experiential learning and the ranch and cow horse industry.

Part 1 – The Challenge

The opportunity to compete in Dillon at Montana Western’s Colt Challenge is a once in a lifetime experience for many of the program’s students. This is an exceptional experiential learning opportunity to start a colt and ready it for competition.

Part 2 – The Preview & Sale

March 29, 2025

Hosted at the Montana Center for Horsemanship

Preview: 10:00 am

Lunch: 11:30 am

3 Day Summer Clinic

Enhance your natural horsemanship skills with these specialized 3-day clinics.

​

Stall provided for 1 horse for the duration of the vent. Feeding and stall cleanup are the horse owner's responsibility. Limited to 10 participants per session.

​

Cost is $400 per class/student. Auditors welcome for $25/person.

Beginner Horsemanship

Focuses on fundamentals of horsemanship on the ground and in the saddle.

Intermediate Horsemanship

Focus on horsemanship in the saddle including fundamentals and refinement.

Horsemanship Camps

Montana Center for Horsemanship is excited to host a unique horsemanship experience designed for women to connect with their horses, the land, and each other. Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen a relationship with their horse through horsemanship fundamentals, on the ground and in the saddle. They will learn and practice new techniques in the arena before venturing out into the hills of Montana where they can apply these new methods in a natural environment. The unique beauty of the mountains allows for a relaxing and fun environment to develop their horsemanship skills and build a relationship of confidence and respect with their horse.

Women and Wine Horsemanship Camp

Dates: TBD (4 Day Camp)

Time: 8am-4:30pm

Location: Montana Center for Horsemanship

Cost: TBD

Tentative Schedule:

8:00: Breakfast

9:00: Arena Horsemanship

12:00: Lunch

1:30: Outdoor applied horsemanship

4:30: Evening session (wine, hors d’oeuvres, campfire)​

8 participants per camp. Participation is on a first come, first serve basis. Participants must have the ability to trailer their horse to and from MCH and the outdoor riding site.

Montana Center for Horsemanship will provide:

  • Individualized learning opportunities

  • Breakfast and Lunch

  • Wine tasting and Hors D’oeuvres

  • Stall provided for 1 horse for the duration of the event. Feeding and stall cleaning are horse owners responsibility.
